NICEIC Domestic Installer
To compliment our full NICEIC approval we are also registered as an NICEIC Domestic Installer to conform with the part P building regulations.
Part P – What’s it all about?
When did the new rules start and why?
On January 1st 2005, new Part P Building Regulations were enforced in England and Wales to reduce the number of deaths, injuries and fires caused by faulty electrical installations and to make it harder for 'cowboy builders' to leave electrical installations in an unsafe condition.
Part P is intended to increase the safety of households by improving the design, installation, inspection and testing of electrical installations in dwellings.
The Scope of Part P
Part P applies to the following areas:
• Dwellings
• Combined dwellings and business premises having a common supply (such as shops, pubs etc.)
• Common access areas in blocks of flats (but not lifts)
• Shared amenities in blocks of flats (such as laundries, gymnasiums etc.
• Outbuildings, including sheds, garages and greenhouses
• Garden lighting and power supplies
Building Regulation requirements in conjunction with Part P
Contractors self-certifying compliance with Part P will also have to certify compliance with other relevant parts of the Building Regulations that have been affected by the electrical work, such as Part B (fire safety), Part F, Part M (accessibility) and Part L1 (energy conservation), Delta are fully conversant in these regulations. Carrying out electrical Installation work in your home can be carried out by the homeowner, however they have the responsibility to inform there local building control. This will have to be done before any works commence. The work will then be subject to an inspection from the building control officers which can be expensive. Delta are compliant in all aspects of the building regulations and we are able to self certify our work avoiding building control fees. www.niceic.org.uk/technicalapprovals/buildingregs/disscheme
Council of Registered Gas Installers (CORGI)
CORGI is considered the leading authority for information on gas safety issues around the home. With over 30 years experience CORGI also provides information and support for other trades including plumbing and electrical work. Delta is proud to be registered as a CORGI Installer allowing us to conform to the regulations.
CORGI was founded in 1970 to protect the public from the dangers of unsafe gas installations. CORGI maintain an up-to-date register of qualified gas installers and other trades people, and set out to promote the core values of professional service and high standards in safety.
The CORGI badge is a guarantee of quality, making it the standard to look for when employing a tradesman.
